Hanpoong Pharmaceutical (CEO Jo In-sik) announced on the 5th that it won the Minister of Health and Welfare Award at the 'Medical Asia 2018 Korea Global Medical Service Awards' awards ceremony held at the Grand Ballroom of The Plaza Hotel in Seoul on the 1st.
The Global Medical Service Awards, organized by the Medical Asia Steering Committee and hosted by three media outlets in Korea, China, and Russia, is celebrating its 11th anniversary this year.
The steering committee selects award-winning organizations by selecting companies and medical institutions that have contributed greatly to the development of the healthcare industry based on big data related to medical and pharmaceutical biotechnology.
According to the Steering Committee, Hanpoong Pharmaceutical received the Minister of Health and Welfare Award at this awards ceremony in recognition of its contribution to the modernization, standardization, and scientificization of Korean herbal medicine.
In his acceptance speech, CEO Jo In-sik said, "We will do our best to improve public health by focusing more on the production and development of herbal extracts and herbal medicines."
Meanwhile, Hanpoong Pharmaceutical, in collaboration with Chonbuk National University and Wonkwang University, is developing into a pharmaceutical company specializing in oriental medicine by conducting clinical trials for 'Mecasin', a candidate substance for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) of Lou Gehrig's disease.
