Donguibogam Popularity of traditional oriental medicine with modernization


This year marks the 10th anniversary of Donguibogam being listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Donguibogam is a book of oriental medicine that Heo Jun of Eo started writing in 1596 at the order of King Seonjo. Based on his clinical experience, Heo Jun analyzed and compiled the medical books of China and Joseon at the time, and completed the book in 1610, during the reign of King Gwanghaegun. Donguibogam was recognized worldwide for its value as a historical document and was registered as Korea's 7th World Memory Heritage in July 2009.

Hanpoong Gyeongokgo is an oriental medicine that modernized the prescriptions contained in Donguibogam, gaining consumer trust and receiving steady love.

Gyeongokgo appears as the first of a total of 4010 prescriptions in Donguibogam. Kyeongokgo is an oriental medicine made by modernizing the traditional method, combining ginseng, bokryeong, saengjihwang, and honey, then steaming and maturing for 120 hours. This medicine, made with great care over a long period, can be expected to be effective for physical fatigue, weak constitution, boredom, and menopausal disorders.


Recently, the results of animal experiments showing that jadeitego can prevent lung damage caused by fine dust have been published in an SCI-level international journal, drawing great attention. Kyungpook National University College of Pharmacy Professor Bae Jong-seop's team conducted an animal experiment titled 'Inhibitory effects of Kyung-Ok-Ko, traditional herbal prescription, on particulate matter-induced vascular barrier disruptive responses' Through the research paper, it was announced that the respiratory protective effect of jadeitego on oxidative stress and airway inflammation caused by fine dust was confirmed. The findings were published in the International Journal of Environmental Health Research. In addition, scientific research is being conducted, such as the publication of papers on anti-fatigue activity and immune enhancing effect of jadeitego.
